Ebook About
The national bestseller From the author of the bestselling More Beautiful Than Before comes an inspiring book about loss based on his most popular sermon. As the senior rabbi of one of the largest synagogues in the world, Steve Leder has learned over and over again the many ways death teaches us how to live and love more deeply by showing us not only what is gone but also the beauty of what remains. This inspiring and comforting book takes us on a journey through the experience of loss that is fundamental to everyone. Yet even after having sat beside thousands of deathbeds, Steve Leder the rabbi was not fully prepared for the loss of his own father. It was only then that Steve Leder the son truly learned how loss makes life beautiful by giving it meaning and touching us with love that we had not felt before.Enriched by Rabbi Leder's irreverence, vulnerability, and wicked sense of humor, this heartfelt narrative is filled with laughter and tears, the wisdom of millennia and modernity, and, most of all, an unfolding of the profound and simple truth that in loss we gain more than we ever imagined.

Book The Beauty of What Remains: How Our Greatest Fear Becomes Our Greatest Gift Review :

I recently lost my grandmother. Her funeral was on Monday. While watching Hoda & Jenna they had Steve Leder on the show to talk about his new book. He gave a nice talk about loss and how we hear about the stages of grief, but he feels it comes more in waves. His talk spoke to me and gave me a sense of peace that morning. It really does come in waves. Some days we really feel ok and other days our heart starts to hurt all over again. His words were so comforting during this difficult time that it moved me to want to read his book. While I haven't read it yet because I just got it in the mail today I look forward to diving into it. Thank you and I'll update after I read his book.
A wonderful book, beautifully and sensitively written. And most important, utterly realistic and practical. The basic message is to love people, and to support them in what THEY desire at the end of their lives, and not what YOU might desire for them. It seems that many well-intentioned people inadvertently do the latter, and thereby miss their unique and irreplaceable opportunity to release a dying person from the bonds of earth to experience a peaceful end of what are invariably imperfect lives. It is Rabbi Leder's intent to make us aware of this potential pitfall, and with his immense and compassionate experience (not to mention his funny stories), he is well equipped to succeed at this important mission.Rabbi Leder, somewhere your father is immensely proud and no doubt bragging about you with great gusto and enthusiasm!
